A Stylish Ballet of Bullets and Parkour

My Friend Pedro delivers exactly what it promises: a ridiculously entertaining side-scrolling shooter that combines acrobatic gunplay with absurdist humor. You play as an amnesiac hero whose only companion is a talking banana. While the premise is intentionally bizarre, the banana’s high-pitched squealing can grate on your nerves quickly. Thankfully, you can skip most dialogue, though there’s no option to mute it entirely.
The real star here is the gameplay. You’ll flip, spin, roll, and wall-jump through levels while dual-wielding pistols and other weapons that can target enemies independently. The combat feels like a choreographed action sequence, you can kick frying pans mid-air to ricochet bullets, slow time to dodge incoming fire, and chain kills together for satisfying combos. These mechanics transform simple side-scrolling shooting into something genuinely addictive.
Nostalgic Flow with Modern Polish
The smooth scrolling and momentum-based movement evoke classic Sonic and Mario games, but with significantly more violence. Levels fly by as you parkour through industrial warehouses, sewers, and neon-lit nightclubs, mowing down waves of enemies in creative ways.
While most enemies are generic thugs, the game mixes things up with boss fights and environmental hazards like lasers and mines. You’ll face gamer gangsters, robot guards, and melee enforcers, though honestly, the joy comes from stylishly obliterating the endless parade of cannon fodder in your path.
The story offers a few twists as you uncover your character’s identity, but it’s mostly window dressing. What keeps you coming back is the score system, replaying levels to perfect your speed and kill count becomes surprisingly compelling.
The Verdict:
✗ Annoying banana voice with no audio options
✓ Incredibly satisfying parkour-shooter mechanics
✓ Creative, over-the-top ways to dispatch enemies
✓ High replay value with score-based challenges
